R & S Furniture and Carpet was established in 1985 by Ralph and Shirley Stansbury, both lifetime residents of Argonia. They bought their first building in the early 1980s to do furniture repair, but after numerous requests from local people for new furniture, they opened their store with five recliners and two sets of bedding.

With a favorable response from the community, they kept adding to their inventory and showroom space. They now have four buildings and a warehouse. They would never have been successful if not for their friends as customers and loyal employees.

Currently Ralph and Shirley and Pam Nafziger operate the store. Melvin Stephens, Leonard Mason and Donnie Gellerher are their flooring specialists.

R & S Furniture and Carpet is located four and half blocks south of U.S. Highway 160 on Argonia's Main Street.
